Student Startup Madness, an annual, nationwide collegiate business competition focused on digital media startups, announced its 32 semi-finalists with two University of Oregon teams making the cut.
Averto, a company focused on safeguarding people in conflict zones, and Instashowing, a company that saves real estate agents time and increases customer efficiency, both advanced in a competition that saw more than 200 entries drawn from 54 universities from around the United States.
Next steps for both teams will include another round of application refinement and evaluation at the end of January. Eight teams will eventually be selected by competition organizers to pitch in Austin, Texas during the SXSW conference taking place on March 16. University of Oregon teams have previously only advanced as far as the second round of 32 semi-finalists in this highly competitive competition organized by a consortium of 14 universities.
